How to Register a Sender ID in Ghana (Step-by-Step)

Register an approved alphanumeric Sender ID for bulk SMS in Ghana. What carriers require, how SplitSMS handles approval, and tips to avoid rejection.

A Sender ID is the name customers see instead of a phone number when your SMS arrives — for example MYBRAND or SCHOOLNAME. In Ghana, carriers typically require approval before you can send with a branded alphanumeric ID. Without it, messages may fail, land as a random short code, or look untrustworthy.

SplitSMS walks you through Sender ID registration from the dashboard. You submit the brand name, business details, and any supporting docs; we route the request through trusted Ghana carriers (including mNotify paths) and show status until it is approved.

What makes a strong Ghana Sender ID

Keep it short (usually up to 11 characters), match your legal or trading name, and avoid generic words like SMS, OTP, or BANK that carriers reject. Use letters only when possible — spaces and special characters often fail approval.

If you send for multiple brands, register each Sender ID separately. Clinics, schools, and SaaS products should each use their own brand so recipients recognize who texted them.

How to register on SplitSMS

Sign up, open Dashboard → Sender IDs, and submit a new request. Add your company name, intended use (promotional, transactional, or OTP), and sample message content. Top up your wallet so you can test as soon as approval lands.

Approval timing varies by carrier and name uniqueness. Track status in the same screen — pending, approved, or rejected with a reason you can fix and resubmit.

After approval: dashboard, API, and WordPress

Once approved, pick that Sender ID when sending campaigns, OTP, or WooCommerce order SMS. The same ID works across the REST API and the SplitSMS WordPress plugin — one registration, every channel.
